Batwater Station
About Batwater Station
Purchased in 1994, our vision has continued over the years. We our dedicated to the wildlife that call Batwater their home. In 2015 we finished breeching our levee which created improved wetlands for baby salmon, turtles, migrating waterfowl and more. We have over 600 feet of docks for permanent and transient boaters. There is a pier and pier house with complete kitchen, bathroom, and shower room. A viewing station over looking the wetlands for relaxing. Brick and propane barbecues for use, bonfires on summer weekends and a lawn area for relaxing. People can enjoy the wild while having amenities of a more comfortable stay. We currently rent out a houseboat, yurt with cabin and tiny cabin. Whether you are traveling by boat or car, enjoy birding, fishing, boating or relax on site, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Houseboat, Yurt & Cabin

There is also a tiny cabin set far back on the property. Cabin has gazebo next to it with a propane barbecue & outhouse. Each has Apple music, steaming TV channels & high speed internet. Our Wildlife
We have several bird houses which house tree swallows and purple martins along with an osprey nest box down at the docks. Wood duck boxes are found within the wetlands along with turtle island for nesting turtles. White tailed deer enjoy our mowed areas and munch on fruit in the fall. Winter ducks include mergansers, mallards, wigeons, scaups along with herons & egrets. We strive to make improvements so that our wildlife find the right habitat & nesting sites. The wildlife that reside at Batwater are protected. Along with wildlife you will see cattle grazing and horses.

Your Hosts
Hi, Michael and Karin and welcome you to Batwater Station. Michael loves old cars, motorcycles and boats. Most days he can be found in his shop tinkering on cars, boats or motorcycles. Karin is a project person. You will see her fingerprint on all structures that make up Batwater. You will find unique woods and fun layouts and designs. She is also dedicated to protecting our wildlife.

Boat Moorage
We have one full time boat & offer transient visitors to our moorage. Transient boaters need to call at least one day before to see if any space is available. We charge $40 per night for visiting boats. Boaters have access to full kitchen, shower room, bathroom along with barbecues, canoe, kayaks, & view station over wetlands. Internet is available on docks with limited electricity.

Breeching The Levee
In 2013, we worked with the Columbia County Soil & Water Conservation District and the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership to design and implement a plan to improve our wetlands. Bonneville Power approved a grant for this project with their goal being improving habitat for salmon. The project was completed in 2015

About Our Name
When we purchased the property in the late 90's the house was abandoned except for families of little brown bats. The main house was cinder block and looked like an old railroad station depot by the railroad tracks. Since the property was on the river we came up with the name Batwater Station.
